Gallery: 2023 Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic

A closer look at Polaris’ halo electric model.

Back in December, Polaris was first to market with a viable electric side-by-side in the 2023 Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic. It’s not the only electric the company makes, but it is a considerable step in performance and comfort. As we found out at a recent press launch, performance is more than a match for its gas counterparts, and the machine is quieter, easier to drive, and has more stable handling than the traditional rig. The future is here, and it looks good.

The 2023 Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic is as familiar as it is alien, with scarcely believable power and control.Polaris
In almost every other rig under the sun, an internal combustion engine sits here.Polaris
Down to the shifter, the interior of the Polaris Ranger Kinetic is a carbon copy of the gasser’s.Polaris
A charge and regeneration meter sits where the tach would lie in a gas-powered Ranger.Polaris
While the stance is similar to the internal combustion version, the Ranger Kinetic has more stable handling thanks to a lower center of gravity provided by the batteries.Polaris
We didn’t do any technical off-roading, but from what we could glean, the Ranger Kinetic will be excellent in slow sections.Polaris
A bed-mounted 12V auxiliary plug means you don’t need to run your own wiring to draw power for tools and accessories out back.Polaris
Our tester was blessed with Polaris’ excellent Ride Command onboard navigation.Polaris
Our tester was fitted with a roof and glass windshield and Polaris’ mesh doors.Polaris
The Kinetic wears a standard winch, and the front bumper comes equipped with snowplow attachments.Polaris
The Ranger Kinetic Ultimate should be able to do around 80 miles on a charge, and can be charged from a standard 110V wall socket in 19 hours. We recommend getting the Level 2 EV charger Polaris sells in conjunction with Qmerit. With the Level 2 charger, the Kinetic can be fully recharged in three to five hours.Polaris
The suspension and steering components are pretty much the same as they are on the standard Ranger, but payload capacity has increased by 250 pounds to 1,250 pounds.Polaris
There is no transmission to speak of, but the Kinetic does have high range, low range, park, and neutral. Forward and reverse are selected with the rocker switch.Polaris
The 14-inch alloy wheels wear 29-inch Pro Armor X-Terrain tires.Polaris
The Ranger Kinetic’s silence will be a huge plus for hunters who want to get to their blind or tree stand quietly and without belching exhaust all over their hunting spot. Add a camo wrap to that and you might have the ultimate hunting rig.Polaris
With just about double the torque of the gas rig, the Ranger Kinetic stands ready to tow just about anything you can hitch it to.Polaris
Rocker switches on the dash change between two drive modes, and one-wheel, two-wheel, and four-wheel drive.Polaris
From afar, it’s hard to tell the Ranger Kinetic apart from the standard UTV.Polaris
If you don’t go for camo, the pearl white-and-blue paintwork sets the Kinetic apart.Polaris
There is ample power available to throw a little dust around.Polaris
We’re looking forward to getting our hands on a 2023 Polaris Ranger Kinetic for a full test soon!Polaris
