This Year's SCORE Baja 500 course was one of the toughest on record. Huge challenges around the Northern Baja sections pushed man and machine to their limits. However, one team, Cognito Motorsports set a record pace that was only topped by a few of the high dollar buggy and truck classes. You can see the time comparisons HERE.
Bakersfield, California's Justin Lambert and Mitchell Alsup finished the course in 13 hours and 17 minutes with an average speed of 38.67MPH. The victory margin for the Cognito/Polaris RZR team was 49 minutes over the second place finisher among all 36 (22 finished) of the Pro UTVs that started the race. Matt Burroughs was the highest finishing Can-Am, 4th overall, and only one Yamaha YXZ1000R entered (DNF).
The winning Pro ATV headed up by Said Sanchez just edged out Lambert’s Turbo UTV time with a 12:57 run around the northern Baja loop that started in Ensenada, looped around San Felipe before heading back to Ensenada. However, it was the Sportsman ATV winner, Juan Dominguez, taking the ATV overall win.
