2018 Polaris RZR XP Turbo Preview

Speculating and waiting

Tomorrow evening we will see what Polaris has in store for the 2018 RZR XP Turbo as well as the rest of the UTV, ATV and Youth lines. We are sure great new technologies will be announced across the brand, but it’s a new RZR that we are expecting to get the most attention. Last year, the RZR XP Turbo only received minor updates so that has us speculating on what big secret improvement is next. There are two RZR’s that we have seen out in public that might shed a light to what is coming.

The East Coast guys would rather see a narrower car built for carving the woods. That could be in the works and the ACE line might be growing.Polaris

One, is the single, center mounted seat of RJ Anderson’s XP1K-4 Polaris RZR. If you think back to the original XP1K video, RJ’s machine was the introduction of the 999cc RZR with its new chassis and long travel suspension verses the XP900. In XP1K-2, RJ’s “Turbo” was highlighted and around the same time, Polaris released the 2015 XP Turbo. So we can guess, that Polaris may be working on some sort of single seat, RZR or perhaps a ACE model with a 1000cc or a Turbo. This concept would be huge for the Mid West or East Coast race and recreational crowd.

A big desert car would be a great comeback to Can-Am after their recent release of the 2018 Maverick X3 Super Sport UTV'sScanlon Motorsports Group

The second vehicle that made its debut this year Polaris’ Chief Marketing Officer, Craig Scanlon’s Best In The Desert race car. This is a one off Polaris RZR XP Turbo-4 that has been built to be light and fast by one of the premier builders Holz Racing. This RZR has stronger A-arms, trailing arms and suspension mounts, etc. Scanlon’s car has a different placement for the steering box and radiator from the stock location, so we can guess, that team is testing features that could make it into a production machine.

You would have to be crazy to think the parts on Craig Scanlon's car don't trickle down to the production line.Scanlon Motorsports Group

If, so, we may see a production desert race car with a super long wheelbase, stronger roll cage and of course huge suspension travel numbers. It may possibly have a longer fuel range and stronger tires. It might be available in a two or four seat configuration with and without a turbo bumping up horsepower numbers to no doubt the 200 mark. Stay tuned to www.utvdriver.com for the info to drop.
