Getting the best bang for your buck is wrapped up in the latest Honda Pioneer 700-4. This four-seat model side-by-side is one of the most innovative and creatively built machines in our market today. Having the second row of seats stealthfully hidden, folded down into the bed of the Pioneer until you need them, not only gives the driver room to haul the workload of chore materials but, when the work is done, he or she can drive the family out through the trails.
The Honda Pioneer is powered by a 675cc fuel-injected single-cylinder that is coupled to an automatic, non-belted transmission. This machine shifts like an automatic car and very smooth shifting at that. The transmission in the base-model Pioneer 700-4 shifts on its own and fluidly, but the Deluxe model Pioneer 700-4 has the paddle-shift capability added in. This makes trail riding fun for those who love to have ultimate control. The fact that you can choose between AT, or Automatic, and MT, meaning Manual, transmission gives the driver control of the shifting in the Pioneer. This style of transmission also offers up true engine-braking performance that will help when the cargo capacity begins to increase in size.
Speaking of the working side of the Pioneer, you will also find a very generous 1,500-pound towing capability and the bed will haul an impressive 1,000 pounds of payload. This means you have plenty of wiggle room when trying to pull that fencing trailer or large loads of feed, seed, hay, or human. One other interesting fact about the Pioneer 700-4 is that you do not have to raise both rear seats at the same time. For instance, if you need to haul tools but little Johnny wants to ride to the jobsite with you, you can simply put one individual seat up at a time. It is pretty user friendly to say the least.
Custom-looking painted plastics also come in the Deluxe package along with colors like Diver Blue and the Honda brand Phantom Camo. Looking good on the trail is easy. Finally, you do also get EPS, or electronic power steering, with the Deluxe model. This is bound to make the daily routines much more enjoyable when the work space gets covered in rough terrain or even when hauling those big loads to the jobsite. This option only comes on the Deluxe Pioneer models, but we all hope that someday power steering will not be an accessory, but a factory-installed component on every SxS model. One can only hope, I guess!
