According to Justin Lambert owner and driver "honestly it is not the most enjoyable race, it is a 17 mile loop format running 4 laps for 2 days for a total of 8 laps, and the course gets worn out immediately. A challenge is a challenge, and racing is racing, we were prepared to keep our winning streak alive and make it 4 wins in a row in the BITD series.
Day one we started front row since we finished so well at The Mint 400, the start was 3 cars wide into a chicane, and we pulled a hole shot in our naturally aspirated Polaris RZR against 2 turbo cars. Soon after though, we couldn’t hold off that turbo power, they were applying pressure and we let them pass us into the desert. Our game plan was to best our class, and not to worry about the turbo cars. Each lap we came around past the hot pit, we were one more minute ahead and finished day 1 off with a 4 minute cushion heading into day 2.
The course on day 2 made day 1 look like a freeway, it was nasty. We started in row 2 on day 2, came out of the chicane 3 cars wide with 2 turbo cars next to us, there was no need to race them as we needed to focus on winning our class and not breaking our car trying to keep up with turbo cars. Being 3 cars wide heading into a sharp right hand turn, we backed it off and let them go, no need to take unnecessary risks. We executed our game plan, put 15 seconds per lap on our naturally aspirated competition, and finished day 2 with a 1 minute lead while saving any damage to the car on this choppy course."
Overall, Justin won in the Pro Production class by a 5 minute margin, making a BITD win streak of 4 in a row, and winning 6 of the last 7 BITD races. Lambert says “ he couldn’t do it without a solid team at the races and back home in the shop”.
