Spacious seating for four and heavy-duty capability. Kubota offers two bed choices.
The RTV-X1140 doesn’t come cheap, and its towing capacity is not the most impressive. Don’t expect a comfy ride or thrilling acceleration.
If you’ve got the money, the Kubota RTV-X1140 is a solid workhorse, but it’s a more basic rig than some of its competitors.
The RTV-X1140 features a tried-and-true three-cylinder diesel engine, and buyers have almost countless options to customize the cab, bed, lighting, and more. While it’s not the most comfortable rig, it’s darn near perfect for farm work, construction, and jobsites.
Kubota didn’t implement any updates for the 2025 X1140, but it did announce a separate all-new RTV-X cab model with the same engine and several upgrades.
2025 Kubota RTV-X1140: $20,499
There’s only one X1140 model available, but there are so many choices that it can feel like a completely different model, depending on the configuration. Buyers have several cab choices, and Kubota offers dozens of other upgrades that can quickly drive up the price.
The RTV-X1140 comes with a 1,123cc three-cylinder diesel engine that produces 24.8 hp. It’s paired with a variable hydro transmission and four-wheel drive. Limited-slip front and foot-operated locking rear differentials are also standard.
The RTV-X1140 comes standard with height-adjustable Kubota-branded front and rear independent suspension. That setup offers up to 11.2 inches of front ground clearance and 8.1 inches of maximum suspension travel.
Kubota doesn’t detail the X1140′s front or rear brake sizes. The X1140 comes with wet-disc brakes and a hand-operated rear-wheel parking brake.
While it’s not the most luxurious or visually appealing space, the RTV-X1140′s cabin delivers on room, ease of use, and simplicity. The controls are intuitive, and the wide, flat bench seats afford plenty of space to stretch out. Interior storage is generous, with a glove box and underseat storage offering enough space for everyone’s gear.
The RTV-X1140′s short-bed configuration carries up to 661 pounds, while its long-bed setup offers 1,102 pounds of payload. A hydraulic lift system comes standard, and Kubota offers a range of tie-downs and other cargo-carrying accessories. The towing capacity reaches 1,300 pounds, aided by the diesel engine, which maintains its performance as it reaches its maximum capacity.
The RTV-X1140′s straightforward setup means there aren’t as many tech gadgets in the cabin as with many competing models. That said, Kubota equips a small digital display with readouts for the speedometer, odometer, and engine hours.
Kubota recommends oil and filter changes after the first 50 hours of use. The engine oil should be changed every 200 hours after that, and the transmission fluid needs to be swapped every 300 hours.
Kubota covers the RTV-X1140 with a two-year/1,000-hour warranty.
