The Red Bull High Desert Scramble is headed back to Nephi, Utah, on May 20, pitting up to 75 side-by-sides in two classes against a unique course cut into the unforgiving Utah desert. The course covers sand dunes, sagebrush, hills, and washes over a 4-mile lap. Red Bull says the race will cover either two or three laps of the course per class.
Last year’s race attracted desert racing big guns like Red Bull Off Road Junior Team driver Seth Quintero, who finished sixth after a series of mechanical issues. Eventually, the SXS Pro class was won by Paul O’Brien, with a time of 35 minutes and change. The SXS Sportsman class honors went to Colton Larson, who finished in just under 36 minutes.
The winner of this year’s SXS Pro High Desert Scramble will get a $5,000 Can-Am voucher, second place will get a $1,500 voucher for BFGoodrich tires, and third will get a $1,200 voucher to KMC Wheels. The SXS Sportsman winner will get a $1,500 BFGoodrich voucher, second will get a $1,200 KMC Wheels voucher, and third will get a $500 voucher to Wolverine Worldwide. Registration for the event is open now.
