Alpinestars SP Racing Shoe Review

The Alpinestars SP Racing Shoe is a top of the line automotive racing shoe. Designed to deliver the best combination of fit, feel and comfort, in any vehicle with a gas/brake pedal. The SP uses an F1 derived sole and Alpinestars own rubber compound to provide enhanced tactile feel and grip on the pedals. The SP is built for all day comfort in and out of the vehicle. The SP is also certified to FIA 8856-2000 and SFI 3.3 homologation standards making them legal for most all automotive racing organizations and sanctions.

The lightweight SP shoe is constructed with a blend of quality suede leathers that are picked for optimum comfort. It features a soft, thin liner on the tongue and lateral panels, even further improving the comfort level. The F1 style soles are made from Alpinestars exclusive rubber compound, that is known for improved pedal feel and grip under race conditions. The SP uses a simple, yet effective lace closure system for the snuggest possible fit, also featuring a sharp, sleek profile that is derived from Formula One. The narrow shape provides the best possible pedal interaction, making the transition from gas to brake and back on the gas as smooth as possible. The SP is available in mens size US 5 through 13 including half sizes from 7-11.

The SP shoe fits like a glove, the narrow build and snug fit work great for aggressively driving any UTV, or vehicle for that matter. Pedal grip and overall feel is unreal in comparison to driving in your average tennis shoe. Once you've raced in this shoe, you will never want to race in a conventional shoe again. They are comfortable and extremely lightweight, yet durable enough to walk the pits, or even hang by the campfire at night. The SP shoe gives you a feeling of precision and control that can't be found with your stander tennis shoe, or hiking boot. In the tighter confines of our race RZR, finding the correct pedal is much easier and you have less problem with overlap. Any sport performance UTV driver will appreciate the performance found in the SP shoe. For a true racer it's a must, a serious duner or desert driver will be impressed as well. They aren't really the practical choice for back country trail exploration as you don't really want to hike in them, or get them extremely wet.

Sizing is average to slightly smaller. If you are in-between sizes, you should try the larger first. If you're getting serious about racing UTVs, this shoe will prove to be a great little advantage.
