The 2023 Honda Talon 1000R-4 is a fantastic four-seat sport rig that combines a desert-ripping Fox LiveValve suspension, a slick and fun six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a bargain pricetag into a super fun family sport rig. We’ve had one in the shop this fall, but it has taken us till now to get it on our RTI ramp to get a numerical score on how well it flexes.
The RTI ramp, for those of you who don’t know, gives rigs a three-digit numerical score that represents how much they flex without pulling a wheel off the ground. We run every rig that comes through our shop through the RTI test, allowing us to have an apples-to-apples comparison.
To get an RTI score, we run the passenger side tire up the ramp, measure in inches how far it traveled before another wheel came off the ground, divide that number by the rig’s wheelbase, and multiply by 1,000.
A good RTI ramp score is anything over about 500, and anything 350 or less is, well, bad. So, how did the Talon do? You’ll have to hit the video to find out!
