What do skateboards and UTVs have in common? Four wheels and ideally someone to control them might be where the commonalities end for those who keep the rubber firmly on the ground. And for those who are more adventurous, another similarity is the ability to amuse droves of people when airborne. If you have any doubt, look no further than Hoonigan’s latest video.
The video has the right recipe for a good time. Start with one of the class-leading side-by-sides, the Polaris RZR Pro XP. Put professional racer and stunt driver Tanner Foust behind the wheel. Add in ex-professional-skateboarder-turned-radio-host Jason Ellis, who’s willing to put his body on the line for the sake of entertainment. The results are as expected: Foust drives the RZR at a calculated clip to a jump point where Ellis, hanging out of the RZR, launches himself off of the moving, airborne Polaris and onto a makeshift skate ramp. The RZR lands effortlessly in the background. It’s made for this. Can the same be said of Ellis’ 49-year-old body?
Those of us less inclined to stand astride the skateboard know the RZR and driver have the better part of this questionable concoction. But that doesn’t stop the video from being a good time from behind our computer screens, where the risk of injury is far, far away. These are the kind of shenanigans we don’t condone using your own RZR for, or any motor vehicle for that matter, but get a kick out of the resulting content. Is Hoonigan’s latest a match made in extreme sports heaven, or bone-breaking hell? Watch the video to see for yourself.
