Designed for RVs, camping, and emergencies, the Yamaha EF2200iS generator is the first generator from the Tuning Fork brand to feature a carbon monoxide sensor. When the sensor detects unsafe levels of carbon monoxide, it shuts the generator off for five minutes, and signals that it needs to be moved to a new location with better ventilation. LED indicator lights also reveal when carbon monoxide levels are approaching dangerous levels and when the unit malfunctions.
Built with Yamaha’s inverter technology, the unit delivers clean and stable power for complex electronics. An air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine produces 2,200 maximum watts with a maximum AC current of 18.2 amps at 120 volts. Yamaha’s Twin Tech parallel function also allows two generators to be connected for 3,600-watt output and 30-amp service. The unit is said to be quiet and efficient with a 10.5-hour run time at 57–65 decibels, well below levels that are disruptive or damaging to the ears.
A standard 30-amp socket provides direct access to RV main power connections. The entire unit weighs just 55 pounds, making it very portable. It’s the perfect size for power tool use and takes up very little space in the bed of a UTV when remote repairs requiring a power source are required. This new generator also utilizes Yamaha’s Smart Throttle technology, a load-sensing control system that optimizes fuel efficiency. A new carburetor and fuel pump design features a fuel drain for safe, long-term storage.
The new Yamaha EF2200iS with CO sensor will arrive at dealers in August with an MSRP of $1,199. A three-year limited Yamaha warranty is included. For more information, visit Yamaha Power Products here.
