It’s no secret that we love the Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000. Last year, it earned an Editor’s Choice Award, and it landed a spot on our 2022 10 Best list. Earlier this year, we tested a 2022 RMAX2 Sport, and found the machine plenty capable, earning an excellent 732.4 on our Ramp Travel Index evaluation. But articulation is only part of a machine’s performance, and when we strapped our VBOX GPS datalogger to the vehicle, we got to see just how well it stacks up compared to other vehicles we’ve tested.
The 2022 RMAX2 knocked out an 8.86-second 0–60 mph run on its way to a top speed of 73 mph. Like other UTVs, the RMAX2 is electronically limited on the top end. That 0–60 mph run puts this year’s RMAX2 a full second ahead of last year’s RMAX2 Limited Edition, thanks largely to the 2022 year model’s stickier Terra Master tires.
Otherwise, the 2022 RMAX2 1000 is slightly faster than the Polaris General Trailhead Edition, which managed a 70 mph top speed and a comparatively glacial 13.09-second 0–60 mph sprint. Not bad, Yamaha.
