Supply-chain woes continue to plague the auto industry, this time affecting the Chevrolet 2023 Silverado HD. While information is still trickling out, it appears that some new heavy-duty Chevy pickups will be delivered without hood insulation, GM Authority reports. General Motors states that an ongoing shortage of the material used in this insulation means there isn’t enough to fit every new truck.
The Silverado HD’s page says, “Due to current supply-chain and material shortages, certain features shown have limited or late availability, or are no longer available. See the window label or a dealer regarding the features on an individual vehicle.”
There’s no word of a price decrease for affected vehicles, and GM supposedly will install the parts when they become available. The lack of hood insulation is striking, but it’s worth noting that some lower-trim Silverados don’t come with hood insulation in the first place.
