Joey Hergatt has been off-roading in the desert as long as he can remember, so it’s safe to say he has sand coursing through his veins. Now a resident of Apache Junction, Arizona, and part owner of Metal Head Fabrication, the 28-year-old prides himself on the quality and performance he can offer his customers. Joey says, “I’ve always been an adrenaline junkie and I still am. I love shredding hard and hanging with good friends. That’s what I think riding is all about!”

Joey built his 2016 Yamaha YXZ1000R to take on the rough, sandy terrain of his local trails. Equipped with Cognito long-travel shocks, Raceline Wheels, 32-inch BFGoodrich tires, and a Weller Racing steering system, this thing will have no trouble with wide-open desert. Joey also modified the engine for big power. Custom CP pistons and rods are the backbone of the build, supporting a Garrett 2560 turbo that breathes through an exhaust Joey fabricated himself. The mill is now pushing 240 hp to the tires. With countless exterior modifications, Joey’s YXZ1000R has the looks to match the power it puts down.
