Yamaha’s motorsports efforts paid off in a big way this year, with the company’s factory-supported racers decimating the Championship Off-Road tour SxS classes, led by Brock Heger, who took home the overall championship in his Yamaha YXZ1000R SS. That netted him a $15,000 bLU cRU bonus from Yamaha.
In the Pro Turbo class, Hamish Kelsey took top honors and a bLU cRU bonus, also in a Yamaha YXZ1000R. As if that wasn’t enough, Yamaha YXZ1000R racers went on to claim the top spots in the Pro-Am SxS class and the lower Sportsman SxS class.
In Pro-Am, Yamahas led by Colin Kernz snagged the top three spots in the final standings. In Sportsman, Yamahas were able to secure the top four championship spots. Even over just one racing series, having eight Yamahas lock out the top spots across the classes is a hell of a feat. It’s a testament to just how solid a machine the YXZ1000R is, even this long after its 2015 introduction.
