Factory special editions are a great way to get a terrain-specific rig for a bargain.

We took a 2020 Can-Am Maverick Trail RC and a 2020 Polaris RZR XP1000 Trails & Rocks to Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area in Pennsylvania to see if they make the cut as all-around trail rigs. We were stoked on the results, as it turns out a factory special edition carries a lot of value that the aftermarket just can’t match. Check out our pictures of the adventure below!

Out on the faster, flowing sections of Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area in Coal Township, Pennsylvania, both rigs showed themselves to be more than their name implies.Lance Schwartz

When the trails get bony, both rigs really shine. With super-supple suspension and dialed fuel mapping, the Polaris has the edge in the rocks, but just barely.Lance Schwartz

Whatever your use case or brand loyalty may be, both the Maverick Sport X RC and the RZR XP 1000 Trails & Rocks are great value propositions, offering well-curated mods and driveline enhancements you couldn’t match if you tried to add them yourself.Lance Schwartz

Rocks may be a specialty, but both rigs will absolutely sling rooster tails when asked.Lance Schwartz

If you have the scratch, you can get rock-specific rigs with more horsepower, but you definitely don’t need any more than these two provide.Lance Schwartz
