The 50” inch segment really boosted the sport UTV market when the first RZR came out 10 years ago. In the time since, only Honda and Arctic Cat have offered a challenger for Polaris doing so without much fan fare. That is about to change with the release of the 2018 Can-Am Maverick Trail.
Can-Am has jumped into the game seriously with four models for 2018, that will take on RZR 570 and 900. When looking at the numbers, the 2018 Can-Am Maverick Trail 800 and 1000's will have over 10" longer wheelbase but with virtually the same horsepower and suspension numbers. The longer wheelbase will offer a plusher ride and make the machine more predictable in high speed corners. However, it may make it harder to turn on super tight trails and definitely hurts ground clearance. Price wise, they are identical, but we can guarantee they won't be identical to drive out on the trail. We will test the 2018 Can-Am Maverick Trail soon and relay our findings right here so stay tuned.
