Polaris just dropped the latest episode of the company’s Shop Talk YouTube series, and this time the manufacturer is focusing on lighting. These days, UTVs ship with either halogen or LED headlights, and while we prefer the latter for their crisp beam pattern and durability, there’s still a place in the world for the tried-and-true halogen bulb. If you’re not up to speed on the difference, Polaris takes the time to walk us through the ins and outs of both, even going so far as to shut off the shop lights to show the beam pattern on the wall. There may be no clearer demonstration on why LEDs are the go-to for anyone who spends time riding after dark.
While LEDs require less power and typically last longer than halogen bulbs, they are more expensive initially, which is why we typically see them on higher-end models. If you’re looking to save a buck and don’t spend too much time out after the sun goes down there’s nothing wrong with a set of halogen headlights.
