The 2025 Dakar Rally is long over, and Polaris Factory Racing driver Brock Heger is back in the United States enjoying the spoils of his SSV class victory. But the win wasn’t exactly a cakewalk, and Heger’s Sébastien Loeb Racing teammate Xavier de Soultrait had a more than even chance at taking a second victory this year.
Polaris is close to wrapping up its Defending Dakar series, this week taking us behind the scenes with Heger through the first five stages of the rally. It took a couple of stages and a long shakedown for Heger to come to terms with the FIA-spec RZR. By Stage 4, though, he had the lead and was eager to make time.
De Soultrait suffered some misfortunes in the race’s first half, which put Heger on top. From there, all he had to do was manage the gap to Can-Am’s Francisco López Contardo in second. But this video ends after Stage 5 heading into the rally’s rest day.
In the final clip a visibly exhausted Heger looks focused, but it’s clear his mind is still far from parc fermé. Check out the video at the link.
