Three-Wheelers Are Scary, But This One’s Super Rad

This Honda has had some serious upgrades.

Looks can’t kill, but three-wheelers can, and this Honda looks like a hitman.Bum via YouTube

Three-wheelers can be a great way to break your collarbone, but they’re also a load of fun. Bum, a growing YouTube channel, is in the process of rebuilding a Honda three-wheeler, and its latest video gives us a look and listen to the funky off-roader’s first start after the work.

While most channels make viewers wait through an entire video before seeing a start, the Bum team didn’t waste any time getting to the good stuff. That said, it didn’t exactly go as planned. Their first crank got some movement but didn’t turn the engine over. The second try ended with one of the guys’ hands on fire, but the third try was the charm. The engine cranked, but fuel delivery was off, causing it to shut down immediately. The guys had to do significant rewiring, and they installed a new radiator and other components to improve the rig’s cooling. It got a new exhaust system that the team custom-fabricated for the project.

Once most of the work was done, they slapped an annoyingly cracked, used seat on the shiny three-wheeler and attempted another crank. A quick shot of engine starter spray didn’t do the trick, but the guys discovered that the spark plugs and fuel lines running into the pump were installed backward. After that, the Honda fired right up. Let’s just hope they’ve all got excellent health insurance.
