We Wash 5 Years of Filth Off Our Abandoned Can-Am Defender

Desert dust, plant matter, mud, and yes, poop.

The first wash of a new machine is an intimate experience, a thrill that no gearhead can deny. For the first time, you get a truly up close look at the machine you just dragged home, and get to start planning fixes, maintenance, and mods. And more than that, you get your first real look at the machine as you will come to know it.

When it came time to get our 2016 Can-Am Defender HD-10 after its five-year hibernation on a farm outside Phoenix, Arizona, we had no idea how big the task would be. But under all the sun-baked plastic and shriveled seat vinyl lay all manner of nasty surprises. Luckily, things weren’t nearly as bad when it came time to make up for lost maintenance.

Hit the video to see how the process unfolded, and prepare the sick bag when we discover just how nasty the rig really was!
