Can-Am has unveiled the 2025 Maverick R Max: a four-seat version of the mighty Maverick R. The new long-wheelbase Maverick R boasts the same driveline as its two-seat brother, which means you can expect to find a 240 hp, 1-liter turbocharged triple at your disposal. That engine remains bolted to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
There are important differences however. While Can-Am says the Maverick R Max boasts the most rear seat room in the class, it comes at a cost. The longer machine weighs 460 pounds more than the standard Mav R, which hits the scales at 2,150 dry. The Maverick R Max rides on a much longer wheelbase too, at 142.5 inches versus the standard machine’s 108. That’s almost an additional three feet of wheelbase, and that carries over into overall length. The Maverick R Max is 172.5 inches long, which is just shy of the 34 inches longer than standard Maverick.
Do we think that extra heft and wheelbase is going to hurt the four-seat Maverick R’s performance? No. The standard machine has plenty of muscle to spare, and the longer machine may prove to be even more stable at high speed. We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
The 2025 Maverick R Max starts at $39,199. The machine is available in three trims: base, Maverick R Max X RS at $46,099, and the range-topping Maverick R Max X RS with Smart Shocks at $47,799. Can-Am said the Maverick R Max will begin production in mid-September and begin to hit dealers shortly thereafter. For more information, head over to the Can-Am site.
