Here at UTV Driver, we love an absolutely bonkers custom build. If you need proof, look no further than our Baja Bug/X3 thing that we built last year. So when something special comes along, like Jake O’Donnell’s Nissan Silvia trophy truck, we start foaming at the mouth.
O’Donnell bought the car as a 5.3 LS mounted in an S-chassis that was going to be used as a drift car. Because of that, it already had a roll cage and some aftermarket body panels installed. O’Donnell originally just wanted the engine, but the seller wouldn’t let it go without the chassis. So instead of ripping the engine out, he decided to turn the Silvia into the trophy truck of his dreams.
This build was special for O’Donnell, so he laid hands on almost the entire truck. “The whole build I’ve done myself besides the I-beams and the steering,” O’Donnell said. He also learned to fabricate for the build, having little very prior experience.
