How Many People Have Actually Received a Speed UTV Vehicle?

We don’t know if two dozen or two hundred have been delivered.

The mysterious company held an exciting drive event for owners, but questions remain.Speed UTV via YouTube

Earlier this year, we reported on a walkaround video from Speed UTV, in which founder Robby Gordon showed us the ins and outs of his company’s new vehicles. At the time, we wondered out loud whether Speed UTV would continue delivering customer vehicles, noting that its estimated import numbers didn’t paint a pretty picture for its reservation holders. Now, just a few months later, the company has posted a video from a recent customer ride event, during which several of Speed UTV’s more than 1000 early customers showed off their rigs.

On the Speed UTV Facebook group, owners coordinated meet-ups at the event and shared their vehicles’ chassis numbers, but the company’s social media groups still hold a surprisingly large number of weird complaints and questions about the vehicles’ quality and operation. Despite that excitement, we still don’t know how many of the company’s preorders have been filled, and the aftermarket has had to step in to solve some of the vehicles’ more pressing issues, such as their overheating problems when a windshield is installed.

Skepticism aside, there’s reason to be excited about Speed UTV. Late last year, Motor Trend reported that Speed UTV was “speeding up” its customer deliveries, saying that Gordon’s personal involvement with the company and its social media following had created loyal fans. Additionally, Speed UTV’s vehicles are tested and proven in racing events, meaning the UTV you buy is one that the company has raced and tested in the real world.
