Kawasaki has just teased what very much appears to be a forced-induction side-by-side under the code name Project H2. In a taunting and all-too-short YouTube spot steeped in the mise-en-scène from a ‘90s action movie, we see the silhouette of a sport side-by-side and hear the unmistakable whoosh of a waste gate.
As if the images and sound weren’t enough of a clue, there’s the name. The Kawasaki Ninja H2 is a supercharged, 999cc four-cylinder sportbike with up to 300 hp. Kawasaki has been notably without an open-class sport side-by-side to battle the likes of the RZR Pro R and Maverick R, but very much has the engine to go toe-to-toe with the North American rigs.
It’s really a pretty simple equation from there. What isn’t as easy to figure out is just how Kawasaki will play it. Will we see a fully wild, 300 hp, supercharged open-class side-by-side, or a modified KRX with a 200-odd horsepower version of the Ninja’s mill?
We thought this was coming last year when Kawasaki teased the four-cylinder Ridge utility rig, but the clues here are way stronger. All that’s left is to sit and wait. No word on how long Kawi will string us along.
