We have to give Polaris credit, the Canadian company’s production crews don’t take time off. We recently checked out Destination Polaris in Wisconsin and Shop Talk taught us how to change the oil on a 2024 Polaris RZR XP 1000. Now, the first episode of a new series called Chasing the Wild takes us to the Pacific Northwest for some white water kayaking. Starring the recently launched Polaris Xpedition, we’re guessing Chasing the Wild will focus on showcasing what can be done with the overlanding UTV and why Polaris believes its new rig is worth pickup truck money.

We’re eased into the pitch with a soft sell though. This installment could be called “Being Rush Sturges” or “Zen and the Art of Kayaking.” Rush Sturges is a professional white water kayaker and filmmaker, and he spends most of the video enlightening us about the allure of his sport and what it takes to get to the end of a run alive.

In between all that, the Xpedition gets its cameos and a plug, but not much of a workout in this first go. That’s fine by us. We already drove the Xpedition, dissected it, and slept on it; we’re clear on its fine points. Save for wanting a little more horsepower and a fair bit more sound insulation, we called the Xpedition “eminently capable with zero modifications, spacious enough for a family, and comfortable enough to keep a fussy crowd pleased.”

So we have a feeling Chasing the Wild is going to get a lot more wild in future episodes. For now, then, enjoy the kayaker’s chase.
