Watch Matt’s Off-Road Recovery Install a New Axle for the Banana

Matt’s Off-Road Recovery is no stranger to pushing a vehicle to its limits, whether it’s during a recovery or an event. This time, the crew pushed their famed Jeep Cherokee XJ, named the “Banana,” too far and ended up breaking the gears in the front axle. At first, Matt considered just replacing the gears and calling it a day, but where’s the fun in that?

The crew has a history of breaking front axles on the Banana, so an upgrade has been long due. Conveniently, they have been building a Dana 60 axle to throw onto it for some added beef. The axle was still far from ready, though, so the crew was rushed in completing and installing it onto the Jeep. They didn’t quite get it installed in this video, but they made steady progress on narrowing the axle and modifying it to bolt up to the Banana.
