OnX Offroad’s Build Challenge Heads Into Home

Even though the SEMA Show concluded last month, onX Offroad is still rolling out episodes recounting its second Offroad Build Challenge. The fun and games gave seven “ambassador teams” and a wild-card entry seven months to build “a vehicle that can take on technical rock crawling and be self-sufficient for multiday overlanding,” then prove their builds with a six-day backroad wheel to SEMA.

Episodes 9, 10, and 11 provide the three-part finale to the escapade. By now, only five of the eight original teams are left: Bleepin Jeep, Dirt Lifestyle, Mischief Maker, Fab Rats, and wild-card Ultra4Jones. One of these teams looks a little different, with Nate at Dirt Lifestyle having swapped his heavily Frankensteined Ram 3500 for a less Frankensteined Land Rover Series II. Nate came second in last year’s challenge with a Lexus LX450; seems he’s gone back to the small-ball style of play he prefers.

The circus is visiting Tucson, Arizona, for dragstrip runs and a timed blast over a short obstacle course. The hurdles get higher after this episode.

With the entire series uploaded now, you can visit the playlist to look ahead to the finish or go back to the first episode where it all began.
