Polaris is making a big push to win its second Dakar Rally in a row in 2025, and it is sending its star factory driver to Saudi Arabia to spearhead the effort. Polaris teamed up with Sébastien Loeb Racing last year to field two RZR Pro Rs in the legendary rally, and won the T4 SSV class with Xavier de Soultrait at the wheel.
Meanwhile, Brock Heger was busy showing the world that he’s got the chops to take Polaris’ racing efforts to the next level. Heger won the Baja 1000 this year, on his way to a SCORE championship in the Polaris Factory Racing RZR Pro R Factory. His success led directly to Polaris tapping him to increase its footprint at the two-week stage rally.
Heger will partner with navigator and Polaris driver Max Eddy Jr., who joined Polaris Factory Racing in January. Eddy was co-driver for Robby Gordon in 2019, the last time the Dakar ran in South America, and has been in and out of the Polaris camp a couple of times as a driver. He’ll bring experience, expertise, and a friendly face for Heger as the team looks to take the fight to Can-Am again this year.
It’s no secret that Can-Am was disappointed to lose to Polaris last year, and is mounting its own stout American effort for this year’s race, led by 2024 Dakar stage winner Sara Price. Stay tuned for more—we’ll be keeping a close eye on the showdown in the desert when it kicks off January 3 in Bisha, Saudi Arabia.
