He dreamed of being the first Mexican team to win Mexico’s iconic desert race.

Tavo Vildósola explains how a dream that began in 1998 took 12 years to realize.Polaris

Tavo Vildósola (full name Gustavo Vildósola Perez Tejada) grew up in Mexicali, the capital of Baja California. In 1998, when he was 16, his father decided to create a Mexican desert racing team with the goal of being the first local squad to win Mexico’s most famous desert race, the Baja 1000.

As his father ran the main-event class, Tavo began his SCORE career in 2002 at the age of 20 in the lower classes. The following year, he finished first in the SCORE Lites class at the Baja 1000, the same year his father won the San Felipe 250.

Winning the San Felipe 250 gave the family and team a huge boost of belief in the Baja 1000 dream, but you know what they say about the darkness before the dawn.

If short and sweet were a video, here it is. Even better, it gets sweeter with every second. Let Tavo tell the story.
