Tracker Off-Road is joining the electric UTV fight with the new Ox EV. Powered by a 14.9 hp electric motor and a 48-volt battery, the company says the Ox is good for a top speed of around 16.5 mph. With a 1,000-pound curb weight, those aren’t exactly bragging numbers, but Tracker says the Ox is built for work, with a 900-pound payload capacity. That includes the 500 pounds that the hydraulic-assist dump bed can handle. That’s not bad for a machine that rings up at $12,999.
It isn’t the most handsome machine in the world, but with a 60-mile range, it should be up for hobby farm duty. Tracker says the batteries use Samsung lithium-ion cells for durability, and the manufacturer claims that the Ox can go from fully depleted to a full charge in around six hours. Plug it in at night, and it’ll be ready to go the next morning thanks to its onboard 900-watt charger. Still, compare the Ox to machines like the Polaris Ranger Kinetic, which we saw tow a full-size dually pickup truck and a fifth-wheel trailer, and we know which one we’d rather have on the ranch.
Look for the Ox at places like Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops later this year.
