Volcon, an electric off-road vehicle startup, recently reported its first-quarter business performance. While the segment is still brand-new and the company is just getting deliveries out the door, it noted a growing number of dealers and confidence in its ability to convert preordered UTVs into paid customer orders.

Volcon shipped its first Stag electric UTV to a dealer in the US earlier this month and said it will continue fulfilling preorders through its dealer network. Preorders are cancelable until the customer takes delivery, but the company believes it will convert a significant number of them into sales this year.

Beyond customer deliveries, the startup has also begun delivering the Stag to the US Army Corps of Engineers and said the corps will receive three more this week. Deliveries of the Grunt EVO electric motorcycle also continue to grow. The bikes, which are available for order with a $100 deposit, ship to dealers ahead of customer pickups, and Volcon said it expects to see a spike in demand as the warmer summer months approach.

Company CEO John Kim said, “We’ve made major progress in the past three months. Our Stag UTV production has started, and we are beginning to make deliveries to our customers. Also, we’re seeing strong growth in the sales of the Grunt EVO, our off-road motorcycle. In the coming months, we’ll continue to move forward with reducing cost of operations and production.”
