Yamaha’s Outdoor Access Initiative in 2023 doled out just over $1 million worth of grants, its highest total since it was founded in 2008. Yamaha says that is close to double the 2022 total, and was brought over the magic million-dollar mark with $300,000 granted in the fourth quarter of ‘23.
The OAI uses grants to fund trail access initiatives, maintenance, and trail building projects. Off-road organizations apply for the grants quarterly. In its 15 years, the OAI has given out more than $6.5 million to 470 projects, according to a news release.
The final $300,000 in 2023 went to the Colorado 500; Northwest Colorado Trail Corp; Itasca County Land Department; Pennsylvania ATV Trail Development; Lakeville Sno-Trackers Inc.; The Nature Conservancy - Tennessee; Lutsen Trail Breakers Snowmobile Club; and Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Bike Association.
Applications for the first funding cycle of 2024 are due March 31. Head to the Yamaha OAI website to learn how to apply for a grant.
