Merry Christmas from the UTV Driver crew! We don’t know who bribed Santa to move us off the naughty list this year, but we owe them a bottle of bourbon. We got to open a big gift last week, and whipped up a quick video to show you what was under our tree: a 2024 Can-Am Maverick R. The guys at Alcoa Good Times in Alcoa, Tennessee, gave us a call when the machine rolled off the truck, and were kind enough to let us help assemble it in their shop. We spent an afternoon getting in everybody’s way as they transformed the rig from hunkered down and covered in plastic to ready to rip around the Tennessee hills.
It was fun getting to see the machine take shape, and to help out here and there. The craziest part was seeing just how compressed the machine’s suspension is for shipping. Can-Am uses massive nylon straps to hold the machine down, and techs cut the straps once it arrives. Very cool.
What do we have planned for our new rig? Maybe we’ll take another stab at the 24 Hours of Windrock. Maybe we’ll head back to Colorado for some ice racing. Or maybe we’ll just do cyclones till eggnog comes out our noses. The world’s our oyster.
