We Took Polaris’ Ranger XD 1500 and Xpedition Beach Camping

Looking at the 2024 Polaris Ranger XD 1500 and the 2024 Polaris Xpedition XP on paper, you’d be forgiven for wondering why they both exist. They seem to cover similar market segments, have similar specs, and cost almost the same. They both have tilt beds, they’re both available with air conditioning and stereos, and they cut a similar profile. Without spending time with them, you’d think they’re interchangeable.

We had to get to the bottom of the matter for ourselves, so we dragged both machines to Portsmouth Island, North Carolina, for a couple days of fishing and camping. The test was designed to help us work out how you decide between the seemingly similar side-by-sides.
