We headed back to the ramp with the 2024 Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 and 2024 Polaris RZR Turbo R 4 Ultimate to find out which machine has more flex. We ramp travel index test every machine that rolls through the doors to give us an idea of how each rig compares to its competition. The test is pretty simple. Each machine drives its left front wheel up a 20 degree ramp until another tire comes off the ground. Once that happens, we measure the distance traveled up the ramp, then divide that number by the machine’s wheelbase and multiply by 1,000. That gives us our RTI score.
Our best performers usually wind up north of 700, while the worst wind up in the low 300s. The 2023 Polaris RZR Pro R, for example, wound up with a 444.98. While the scoring system takes wheelbase into account, longer rigs typically perform pretty well. This time around, the XP 4 1000 managed a 418.80, just behind the Pro R, while the big Turbo R 4 turned out a very respectable 510.
