OnX Offroad just rolled out a new feature called Offline Routing, which allows riders to build routes and navigate without cell service. It will initially be available for iPhone users, with Android coming soon. Users can also share maps, which can be distributed to nearby riders with the Nearby Share feature.
OnX also introduced Landscape Mode, which lets users rotate their phone or device to get a wider view of maps. The company said the display adapts to the phone’s position and offers better visibility than the older portrait view.
OnX can now also overlay trail conditions, with displays for wildfire smoke, air quality index, historic wildfires, and precipitation radar. Users can navigate their way around such hazards, and the system can alert riders to poor trail conditions, such as a washout from heavy rain or mud.
Finally, the existing My Garage feature lets users view past rides and vehicles, and riders can share data with others. They can also create a virtual scrapbook with photos from trail rides. If a user has more than one vehicle in their digital garage, the software will guide them to trails and areas where their UTVs will perform best.
